Often, loosened glow plugs cannot be pulled out of the glow plug channel by hand. Severe coking holds the glow plug in the cylinder head. The Glu¨hkerzenzange can grip the glow plug at the electrode connection, hexagon, or directly at the glow plug housing thread with the longitudinally arranged gripping recesses of the tong head. This makes it possible to pull out even deep-seated glow plugs. The pliers are also used to remove the center electrode if the glow plugs have already been torn off.
